My morale at this point is so low this week that I am struggling to make a post but that is the consequence of starting out the week 0-4. And I know my nemesis, the Atlanta Falcons, are out there just waiting to give me another loss. But moving on from the self pity nonsense.
The week is making for an interesting final run. Almost every division is contested now, except maybe the AFC East. Uhhggg, those damned Patriots, I was just getting used to enjoying their cellar dwelling.
The NFC North preseason's expected winner may not even make the playoffs, DET. The NFC East a few weeks back I said is PHI's to lose and they are dropping the division like a hot potato. But give credit to Dallas and their rookie head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The NFC South, TB and CAR. CAR QB Bryce Young should just throw caution into the wind because there is a good chance he may not be back next year. The NFC West is a three horse race and I would think the odds would be in Matthew Stafford's favor.
In the AFC, if the Steelers lose to the Bills that would give the Bengals an opportunity for the AFC North division. Just imagine a world where the CIN ownership spent money on their OFF line to protect Joe Burrow. The AFC South the Colts seemed like a walk away winner but the Jags just keep on winning despite QB Trevor Lawrence and HOU is lurking. AFC East, if the Patriots keep on winning there won't be much drama there. As in the NFC, the AFC West maybe the most exciting.
So far this week the home teams are 1-4. Will they turn it around today? Are there any upsets today? HOU's defense could be up to the task of shutting down IND Jonathan Taylor throwing the AFC South into a three team race. And on the rare occasion I am following my advice and picking HOU. NYG are playing hard but aren't closing out games. The Patriots have moments in games where they aren't playing well and that could give the Giants an opening. But I don't expect a Mike Vrabel coached team to make too many errors and they are playing at home. The AZ-TB game has two teams with some similar number so I wouldn't consider this an upset game. But QB Jacoby Brissett has put some energy into the Cardinal offense and TB is on a three game losing streak.
